ABOUT

Viva La Vuvuzuela Music Fest! is a celebratory music fest that looks to capture the all-genre, all-sounds, and awesome atmosphere that can only captured at global events like the World Cup!

The sounds of the Vuvzuela from the world cup in South Africa introduced a new sound to the world on a global stage at a time when the festivities could use a fresh approach, style and sound!

Viva La Vuvuzuela Music Fest will feature rising bands with a fresh sound, approach and energy to them. The festival is being curated to yield an epic celebratory atmosphere of life, love, music, and melody from all around New York!

Each night will feature a DJ set between 2am - 4am.

DAY 2 TICKETS

NOMSA MAZWAI

Nomsa Mazwai is a social activist and an engaged glocal citizen. A now SAMA award winning artist, she blends her ideas about the world and the role she must play as a member of the youth, with melody. Her sound is a mix between Jazz, Afrocentric, Drum ‘n Bass, Electronic and Neo Soul. She melts words with melodies, like dough, kneading into your conciseness. Nomsa is a published writer, a past president1 at the prestigious University of Fort Hare, Fulbright scholar doing her Masters and now an award winning artist. VIDEO

SHINOBI NINJA

Mashing up Hip Hop, Punk, Reggae, Rock, and Metal, into an original urban sound, the six members of Shinobi Ninja form a “Voltron-esque” rock group, bound by the love of music and a hardbody party lifestyle. Known for their explosive live performances and extraordinary hustle, the band has spent the last eight months on the road making a name for itself one show and one fan at a time. They will be headlining the July 9th show at Viva La Vuvuzuela as their end of Tour show. VIDEO

OSEKRE & THE LUCKY BASTARDS

One of Brooklyn's finest rising bands is a must-see live act. "Osekre uses his Ghanaian "jama" sentiments with folk, soft rock and mild hip-hop elements to deliver extraordinary sounds on stage. At the onset, Osekre appears shy and hesitant as he warms his way into rhythm and the Lucky Bastards get their groove on. However, when the band finally gets in tune with each other, there's no stopping the wild, wild Osekre and his Lucky Bastards." Osekre & The Lucky Bastards will be co-headliners on July 9th and July 23rd. VIDEO

SOULFEGE

What would you get if Bob Marley were jammin' with The Fugees on a street corner in West Africa? Afro-Diasporic Groovalicious Funkadociousness!!! Founded by two vocalists & MCs who met in a college choir, Soulfège is a vivid new voice in the increasingly monotone world of Urban Music. Fusing a unique blend of Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk & West African Highlife, the critically-acclaimed Afropolitan fusion band has electrified and inspired audiences with driving rhythms, tight harmonies, powerful lyrics and authentic musicianship. They will be co-headlining Viva La Vuvuzuela on July 9th. VIDEO

DR BEAM AND THE SEM ACOUSTIC MAYHEM

Dr. Beam and the Semi-Acoustic Mayhem, or Dr. Beam and The Sam, formed in late fall 2010. A piano-driven 3-piece, they weave pop, soul, rock, and jazz into a musical afghan they would very much like you to curl up in. Their songs hope to offer you different perspectives, the merging of serious and playful, the joy of music, love, hate, and, well-things small and great-through notes/yells/and the things that a voice, keyboard, upright double (or electric) bass, and drums can do.
